OBELITH
Hi-Fi made Stackable
Obelith offers a high-fidelity system designed to evolve with the user. Start with two core midrange modules, operating in Solo Mode to deliver a full-range experience through a dedicated tweeter and 5" midrange driver.
As the setup expands, the 10" woofer and top-mounted horn can be integrated. By switching to "Full Mode", the system’s internal crossovers reconfigure, distributing frequencies across all four drivers.
The Obelith project is the result of extensive research into both acoustics and CMF (Color, Material, Finish). Taking inspiration from totem poles, wood was the obvious choice of material from day one.
The design process involved navigating the necessary compromises between aesthetics and acoustics. While the original vision was to carve patterns into solid wood, the technical requirement for cabinet rigidity and dimensional precision made plywood the superior choice. The final build uses 20mm pine plywood for the 18" and 10" cabinets to ensure a dead, resonance-free enclosure, while the midrange and horn modules are crafted from 12mm plywood for a leaner profile.
To isolate vibrations within the stack, cork-lined nesting points were integrated into the design. These recessed "stacking holes" serve a dual purpose: they stabilize the system during full-scale playback and, when using the midrange modules solo, they function as integrated trays or bowls for everyday objects.
